In this episode, Klara discusses three main points. 1) The power in recognizing your own role, patterns, emotions and responses in a relationship and how that is the first step to creating an extraordinary life. 2) The power of meditation that helped her escape depression, find her spiritual center and how it has become a daily practice to living her best life. 3) The action of letting go of the past and forgiving those who hurt you in order to move forward and life your best life. Other takeaways from this conversation: Emotions are just messages. Take personal responsibility for how you choose to react to those messages. Recognize. Stop. Breathe. Choose your response. Focus on what you do want in your life. What you focus on expands. Your past does not equal your future. You can change. You have the power of choice."Life does not happen to you. Life happens for you." ~Tony Robbins~Mentions: Feminine Power Program by Claire Zammti https://femininepower.com/"Women on Purpose: Real Stories of Women Living with Passion, Intention and Vision" by Sue Urda and Kathy Fyler. Being vulnerable in a relationship is the willingness to take a chance, to open oneself up and share your thoughts and feelings, what you believe and value, exposing your true intentions, fears and desires. Vulnerability is all about being open and honest enough with yourself to share with others your true thoughts and feelings. When we are afraid to be vulnerable, we are afraid of how the other person will react. We can be afraid that we will be rejected or hurt, or that the relationship will end. Often insecurities are the root cause of our fear, the biggest being “Not enough”.Fear of conflict is the fear of having disagreements, arguments, differences in thoughts, feelings, interests or opinions. We fear any tension so we just want to “keep the peace”.When we fear conflict, we tend to avoid, make premature decisions, and hide or suppress our true thoughts and feelings, which prevents us from having open and honest conversations. How can we create a space for open and honest communication? Start by becoming more self-aware of your own thoughts and feelings. Are you afraid how the other person will respond? Are you being open and honest with yourself and the other person? Improve your self confidence about yourself and in speaking up. Start Slow.Be as honest, clear and specific as you can.Model how you would like others to respond to you.Create a safe space for the other person to share.Go back and listen to the other episodes I did on barriers to communication to learn more ways you can create positive interactive conversations in your relationships.Get in touch with me! In this episode, Karin explains the importance of tuning into and being aware of the signals your body is giving you so you can make connections between how you feel, what you are doing, and how the body is responding. If you are not aware, you cannot change your response. Be mindful of the thoughts you have, for they turn into beliefs about what you think you can do or not do. Karin also explains are three brains--one in your head, your heart and your gut and the importance of listening to your body to get them to work together. Karin really wants everyone to realize that there is nothing wrong with you. Everyone is whole, just as they are. Your body is brilliant. Love it, listen to it, and take care of it. Her favorite quote is The 3 C's by Jim Rohn, "You always have a choice to take a chance or your life will never change." What can you do about it? How can you have interactive conversations in your relationships? Set up a specific day and time to have a conversation. You could have a regularly scheduled daily or weekly meeting or time for communication, allotting 30 minutes should be good. Pick a time when both are more apt to be refreshed, not rushed, and could have each other’s full attention.Treat it like a business meeting with a purpose, timeframe, and next steps. When you do sit down and talk:Remove and block out as many distractions as you can. Follow good communication practices.Face the person who is talking to you or the person you are speaking to and make eye contact. Speak clearly and honestly using kind words; be respectful, watch your tone of voiceActively listen Think about what is saidIf there is anything you don’t understand, Ask clarifying questionsStick to one subject at a time, don’t bring in extra or unrelated topicsRespond appropriately If the conversation is not going well, take a break from the discussion for a few hours or even a day.
