After being diagnosed with an acute auto immune illness that left her body unable to create energy to do any daily activities, Jennifer Olley was left to find a way to heal herself as the medical community said there was no cure. Starting with a book from a Wales physician, she changed her diet, then quickly realized the key to wellness is through regulating the nervous system.
In this episode, Jennifer explains how our bodies know how to heal itself and we all need to take self care seriously as it is not a luxury, it is a necessity. Everyday is a spa day, was her mantra that got her through healing herself. We need to regulate our nervous system so our immune system can turn on and the body can heal itself.
Examples of ways to regulate the nervous system mentioned in this episode:
Qi Gong
Meditation
Laying Still
Breathwork
Box Breathing
Wim Hof app or other breathwork apps
Cold Immersion

Jennifer uses the analogy of a traffic light to ask yourself, What does my Heart, Mind and Body say about this? Red is stop, Green is go. All areas need to work together. Listen to them.

Jennifer Olley is a clinical social worker with 25 years of experience, specializing in supporting individuals with traumatic histories, including those in psychiatric and spiritual crisis. She owns and operates Self-Integrated: Aligning Your Body, Mind, and Spirit, offering a holistic integrative approach by recognizing that true alignment requires balance across all aspects of the self.

In this episode, Peggy gives a summary of the book, The Dark Side of the Light Chasers by Debbie Ford.
In it, Debbie explains how, consciously or unconsciously, we hide and deny our dark sides, rejecting these aspects of our true natures rather than giving ourselves the freedom to live authentically. She shows that it is possible to acknowledge and accept our so-called weaknesses, which may prove to be important, hidden strengths so that we can reclaim our wholeness, power, creativity, brilliance and dreams.
Peggy summarizes what our dark side is, what happens when we live in the shadow of ourselves, and how to embrace our dark side in order to learn the valuable lessons they offer.
She shares a few examples and stories from the book to gain clarity about how to view ourselves and embrace our dark side.

FISH! Book Summary

Wednesday Dec 04, 2024

Wednesday Dec 04, 2024

We spend nearly 75% of our day on work related activities—getting ready for work, traveling to work, thinking about work, doing work, and winding down after work. If we spend this much time doing something, we better enjoy it, not dread it. Work needs to energize us, not drain us.
The book, FISH! By Stephan C. Lundin, Harry Paul and John Christensen is the story of the world-famous Pike Place Fish Market in Seattle, WA that first was a video produced by John Christensen and his company, Chart House, to illustrate what happens when you create a work environment that makes work enjoyable and engaging.
Now, in print form FISH! is a parable about one department on floor 3 in a large financial institution that is known as the Toxic Energy Dump who learns 4 lessons from Pike Place Fish Market to find their own deep source of energy, creativity, and passion to create a work environment others want to work in.
In FISH! The authors weave in four lessons to create a great work environment where employees want to come to work, are energized and have fun.
They include:
Choose Your Attitude
Play
Make Their Day
Be Present

In this episode, Christine Howard shares how she transformed her life from one that was externally driven and out of alignment into a more authentic life focused on grace, ease, joy and flow.
Notable points during the conversation:
Intuition is knocking but are you listening?
Ask your body, 'What are you feeling? What do you need?' Then listen, acknowledge, validate and take inspired action.
Goals are often made based on our conditioning and the expectations of others or our environment, which are external. Internally driven goals are from the heart, soul, and intuition and often bring more joy and energy to you.
"When you pay attention to life. Life pays attention to you."
Importance of a self care routine that is flexible and ebbs and flows with you.

Christine is a dynamic leadership-lifestyle mentor, speaker, and author whose visionary energy ignites transformation. A natural leader and catalyst for profound change, she inspires ambitious mid-lifers to break free from the status quo and create a Radiant Reality that aligns with their true essence. Christine is the author of the book, Radiant Achievement.
