As the chill of winter fades away, and the temperatures rise, something magical happens— nature undergoes a beautiful transformation signaling the return of life and vitality. Spring is arriving! This season of renewal, rebirth, and vibrant growth holds a unique power to inspire new beginnings in all of us. Much like nature’s awakening from a long slumber, spring offers us the perfect opportunity to embrace change, shed what no longer serves us, and step into a fresh start.

In this episode, I’m using the metaphor of spring to relate new beginnings to our own lives. Just as the earth shakes off the remnants of winter, sprouting new life in the form of flowers, trees, and greenery, we too can view spring as a metaphor for our own new beginnings. It’s a reminder that, no matter what we’ve been through, we always have the chance to reinvent ourselves, start fresh, and grow in ways we never thought possible.
Here are 5 ways Spring aligns with new beginnings and to us.
1. Nature’s Reawakening
2. Fresh Starts and Possibilities
3. Renewal and Growth
4. Clearing Out the Old
5. Hope and Optimism

Remember, every ending is a new beginning in disguise. The next chapter of your life is waiting for you to write it. Take a deep breath and step forward into this season of renewal. Ask yourself: What new beginning can I embrace today? Whether it’s a small change or a major leap, spring is the perfect time to take that step. After all, just as the earth is constantly evolving, so too are you. The journey is yours to shape—so go ahead, bloom.

Midlife doesn't have to be a crisis. Aging does not have to be viewed as a decline, diminishment, or deterioration. Midlife can be the transition to your encore life, a new beginning to your best life. Make time to explore who you are so you can live your best life during your second half of life.
In this episode, Lynette Reiling, discusses her book, Your Encore Life: Take Center Stage for Life's Second Half. Lynette asks questions and provides exercises for you to be the director in authoring your life script for your next act in life.
We all go through transitions in life: relationships start and end, job changes, kids or no kids, empty nest, aging parents. Lynette talks about three phases of transition: endings, neutral zone and new beginnings. We have to let go of what we did in the first half of our life--what we did for others, our identity, our conscious and unconscious limiting beliefs so we can enter the neutral zone of inward discovery and embracing who we are now and who we want to be to step on the stage of new beginnings, our second half of life.
The neutral zone is a time of being. A time to reflect and explore. A time to realign from our inside out, just like when a caterpillar changes into a butterfly.

Meanest Mom in the World

Wednesday Mar 19, 2025

Wednesday Mar 19, 2025

Do you remember thinking that your mom was the “meanest mom in the world”? I remember feeling and thinking that on numerous occasions growing up, especially during my teenage years. I also remember my mom proudly displaying an excerpt from the Ann Landers column in the newspaper entitled, “Meanest Mother in the World” on the side of the refrigerator. Does anyone else remember that?

In today’s episode, I’m going to read that excerpt and share five benefits I see now as an adult and a parent myself of having and proudly wearing the badge, “meanest mother in the world”. But you could add Dad to that—Meanest Mom or Dad or both, in the world, because my dad also played this role.
These 5 benefits are:
1. Discipline and Responsibility
2. Strong Moral Values
3. Work Ethic
4. Independence and Self-Sufficiency
5. Long Term Success

I would love to hear your “meanest mom or dad in the world” stories. Please share them below!

Change is Good

Wednesday Mar 12, 2025

Wednesday Mar 12, 2025

People resist change. Why? Change is often seen as a bad thing. That there is something wrong with us. But it doesn’t have to be. Change can be good.
In this episode, I will define what change is, talk about a few reasons why people resist change and some benefits of change.
Change means to make or become different, to alter or modify; to replace, substitute or exchange with something else that is newer or better, to turn or convert from one state or form to another.
Change is inevitable. View change as progress, taking small steps and as an opportunity or new beginning.
Some benefits of change include: personal growth, flexibility and life improvements.
Ask yourself some questions including: What do I need to get better at? What skills do I want to develop? Then make a plan to get a little better each day.

Wouldn't it be great if we all got back into touch with our inner child? The you inside that is full of light, energy, curiosity, and life? You can!
In this episode, Bente Vosteen shares how she helps adults uncover and rediscover who they are through sensory coaching so they can be better individuals and leaders.
We all have a light inside of us that wants to shine. Getting back into touch with who we are, our inner child, is easier when we use all our senses to reconnect with
our past, connect with our future desires and bring them into the awareness of the present moment.
By eliminating distractions, changing up the environment, remembering our favorite memories as a child, creating a safe space for exploration and experiential learning, each one of us can shape our reality into who we want to become. Each one of us can be leaders--leaders of ourselves and lead others. Start by reflecting on and sharing, 'what I learned today'.

Bente Vosteen is a Mindvalley certified life coach who is dedicated to helping leaders and teams reconnect with their innate sense of purpose and curiosity to create work environments that inspire innovation, collaboration, and sustainable growth.

Do you wish that you could communicate better with others? Or that others would understand you more? Do you want to get your needs met in your relationships? You can! With skills learned through the Nonviolent Communication or Compassionate Communication model.

In this episode, Kathy Ziola, a certified trainer with the Center for Nonviolent Communication, discusses the four key components or curiosities of Nonviolent / Compassionate Communication: Observation, Feelings, Needs, Requests. She also talks about the importance of empathy in communication and provides the listeners with how compassionate communication looks like with an impromptu role play exercise with Peggy.

Communication is key in any relationship. We all are just trying to get our needs met. If we start with the facts, acknowledge our feelings, understand the need we have, and can ask for what will meet our need in a respectful, empathic way, communication and the response to it will be much improved.
Often conflicts arise at the level of strategies, which are the actions we take to meet the need we have. There are many ways or strategies to getting our needs met. Getting curious and having positive intentions and assumptions can improve the chances of our needs being met.

Feeling Blah: Part 2

Wednesday Feb 26, 2025

Wednesday Feb 26, 2025

Last week I talked about feeling blah. There is more to feeling blah than taking care of our physical being and managing the day to day life. It can be a result of deeper, unnoticed factors.
In today's episode, I will share 5 subtle yet powerful reasons that may be contributing to that drained, uninspired feeling of blah including:
1. Holding back or playing small
2. Not Speaking Your Truth
3. Not Asking for What You Need
4. Feeling Emotionally Detached
5. Not Knowing Why

If you’re experiencing that “blah” feeling, it’s important to acknowledge not only how you are taking care of yourself, but also these deeper more subtle causes that may be influencing your mood.
Are you holding back or playing small?
Are you speaking your truth?
Are you asking for what you need or want?
Are you emotionally detached?
Do you know why you are doing what you are doing?

The key to breaking free from this blah state is to reconnect with your authentic self, voice your truth and your needs, shine your light, feel the day and find the deeper meaning and purpose in what you do. By taking small steps toward embracing who you truly are, you will soon find that spark of passion and energy you’ve been missing and you will start living with more vibrancy and joy.
